Steven Miyao

Steven Miyao is an American executive coach, entrepreneur, and former corporate leader. He is the founder of Coaching Metta, an executive coaching practice that focuses on career transitions, leadership development, and personal reinvention. [1] Miyao also hosts the podcast Midlife Remix, which explores themes of purpose and professional evolution among midlife professionals.

Early Life and Education

Miyao was born in Tokyo, Japan. He spent parts of his childhood and adolescence in Munich, Germany, and Vancouver, Canada, before returning to Japan. He later moved to the United States to attend New York University, where he earned a business degree from the Stern School of Business.

Career

In his twenties, Miyao founded a strategic consulting firm serving clients in the financial services sector.[2] Following the 2008 financial crisis, the firm pivoted to specialize in data analytics for asset and wealth management clients, eventually leading to its acquisition by a publicly traded company.[3]

Post-acquisition, Miyao took on a global executive role where he oversaw initiatives in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.[4] After several years in corporate leadership, he co-founded a primary care practice focused on healthcare equity in underserved communities, incorporating technology and community-based care strategies. The practice was later acquired, and Miyao continued to work on technology-enabled solutions for Medicare and Medicaid populations.

He later launched Coaching Metta, where he works with executives, entrepreneurs, and leaders on purpose-driven leadership and personal growth.[5] He also serves as an advisor and board member for several startups in the artificial intelligence and healthcare sectors.

Miyao hosts the podcast Midlife Remix, where he interviews professionals about career pivots and leadership journeys.[6] He is a contributor to the Coaching Metta blog, writing on topics such as career design and resilience.[7] His work or commentary has been featured in media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and CNBC.[8]
