In 1873, Sebree was a Lieutenant serving on board the USS Tigress. On July 14 1873, she launched from Brooklyn, New York in search for the missing USS Polaris on the Polaris expedition. His failure was in properly ascertaining whether any damage was done to the Tally Ho before leaving, though the Tally Ho did not return his hails. The Pinta was undamaged in the hit. October 6 1895 - Sebree was listed as one of the "Famous Annapolis Men" who had graduated from the USNA in the New York Time's article on the 50th anniversary of the academy.
