Jared Lee Knabenbauer Better known by his Internet Alias as "Professional Jared", later "ProJared" (Born August 28, 1985) Is an American Youtube Personality. Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin to a family of Predominately German heritage. He is the younger brother of fellow internet personality and Youtuber: Derek James Knabenbauer, better known as DKlarations.[2]
Beginnings
[edit]Knabenbauer's Internet career began at the age of 21 with the launch of his Youtube Channel "DMJared" on November 20, 2006.The DM stood for "Dungeon Master", Which is a role used in the tabletop/Adventure Fantasy Game Dungeons & Dragons a Game of which Knabenbauer was/and is a devoted player. He later Changed his name to ProJared to maintain a brand across multiple platforms.[3] His Channel is composed of discussions regarding Video Games. In Joining YouTube before the Cultural revolution it spawned in terms of Social Media and Marketing and Advertising. Respectively. Jared Knabenbauer was able gain a foot hold in the videogame market. Establishing an online Media presence long before the likes of Felix Kjellberg, Benny & Rafi Fine and Jon Jafari.
After spending the majority of his upbring in Green Bay,around the time of 2009-2010 Knabenbauer moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth Area of Texas when he was Hired by ScrewAttack to Manage GameAttack. ScrewAttack's own Physical Video Game Retail Store. When the Store was closed after declining to resign the lease to the property. Jared shifted focus, becoming a content producer for the main ScrewAttack Website. He contributed to the site in a variety of ways, both on screen and behind the camera.[4]
Breakout Video
[edit]His early videos were first uploaded in 2010 and they included reviews of some arguably derided and unfamiliar titles. Examples being Two Worlds,Two Worlds 2,Drake of the 99 Dragons & Most Famously Hydlide. These videos were part of the main series called "ProReview". In addition to the ProReviews, Knabenbauer also made a series of short rapid-videos discussing the importance and rating of a certain game, this series was aptly titled "One Minute Review". This series would be discontinued after a Change in the YouTube Monetization strategy.
Jared Knabenbauer's videos were steadily gaining traction, that was until the release of his most popular video to date. Titled How to Make Slender Not Scary which was published on August 3, 2012.[5] The video has since earned 6,600,000+ views. The popularity of this video led to what was perceived to be a lack of work ethic at ScrewAttack. Culminating in Knabenbauer's Dismissal from the Company two months later.[6]
It was at this time that Knabenbauer's Channel rapidly gained Subscribers and His channel became more and more popular. Between the period of His Dismissal to January 1, 2014. His Channel had gained 200,000 subscribers. During 2014, Knabenbauer would become an affiliate of Normal Boots Entertainment Network[7]
Current Standing
[edit]As of May 2016, Knabenbauer's two main YouTube Channels ProJared & ProJared Plays have a combined Subscriber total of 952,162. He remains a Member of Normal Boots Entertainment Network. He is currently in the process of relocation from Lewisville, Texas to Los Angeles, California.
