Kiara Locklear (née Pralle; born November 4, 2002) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Fort Lauderdale United FC in the USL Super League. She previously played at UNC Charlotte and Lipscomb University, where she earned numerous accolades including All-American, Academic All-American, and ASUN Player of the Year.

Early life and education

[edit]

Locklear was born on November 4, 2002, and grew up in Bourbonnais, Illinois. She played youth soccer for Eclipse Select Soccer Club in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL). While with Eclipse, she helped her team win the 2002–2003 age group ECNL championship.

After high school, she began her collegiate career at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, then transferred to Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee.

College career

[edit]

At UNC Charlotte, Locklear played as a left back, starting all 16 matches her freshman year and logging over 1,200 minutes. Her performance earned her a spot on the Conference USA All-Freshman Team in 2021.[1]

She continued as a left back through her sophomore year before transferring to Lipscomb and switching to a more attacking role under head coach Kevin O'Brien, who moved her to forward.

In 2023, Locklear earned Third Team All-ASUN honors with five goals and four assists, starting all 20 matches and ranking second on the team in both goals and total points.

Her senior season in 2024 was record-breaking: she started all 22 matches, scoring 19 goals and tallying 4 assists for a program-record 42 points, ranking second in the nation in goals. She became Lipscomb's first-ever All-American, named to the United Soccer Coaches Division I All-America Fourth Team.

Her other honors included:

  • ASUN Player of the Year
  • First Team All-ASUN
  • ASUN Tournament Most Valuable Player
  • United Soccer Coaches All-South Region First Team
  • CSC Academic All-American
  • 2× TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week
  • 3× ASUN Player of the Week
  • 1× TSWA Player of the Week

She also recorded two hat tricks (vs. Ole Miss and Central Arkansas), logged a 7-point performance in the ASUN semifinal, and led the ASUN in shots (116), with 56 on target.

Club career

[edit]

The USL Super League began its inaugural season in August 2024, and Locklear joined Fort Lauderdale United FC in December 2024, midway through the campaign.

She made an immediate impact: in her first professional start on December 14, 2024, she scored both goals in a 2–0 win over Carolina Ascent FC, earning Performer of the Match honors.

On March 2, 2025, she delivered a goal and an assist in a 2–1 comeback win over Carolina, again earning Performer of the Match.[2] On May 24, she netted the winner in a 1–0 victory over Dallas Trinity FC, bringing her season totals to 5 goals and 4 assists by the end of May.[3]

Her most defining moment came in the USL Super League Semifinal on June 8, 2025, when she scored both goals, including a 120th-minute extra-time winner, leading Fort Lauderdale to a 2–1 upset of top-seeded Carolina and a place in the championship final.[4]

Personal life

[edit]

Locklear married in 2025 and changed her last name from Pralle to Locklear. She is a Christian and has spoken about how her faith influences both her personal life and soccer career.
