Michelle McKenna is a senior business leader, keynote speaker, and public board director. In 2012, McKenna was named Chief Information Officer of the National Football League (NFL) and is now a member of the Board of Directors for RingCentral and Alticor.
Early life and education
[edit]Michelle McKenna was born and grew up in Enterprise, Alabama, and attended Enterprise High School.[1] McKenna received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Auburn University.[2][3] During her time at Auburn, McKenna worked in then-Auburn head coach Pat Dye’s office. She later earned her master’s degree in business administration from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rolling College in Winter Park Florida.[2][3] She is a certified public accountant.
Professional career
[edit]McKenna began her career at Coopers & Lybrand, now known as PWC, as an auditor, and later as a controller.[2] McKenna worked at MetLife as an assistant controller in their real estate division, where she was introduced to joint venture partner, The Walt Disney Company.[2]
McKenna then spent 13 years at the Walt Disney Company, in several executive positions in Resort Development, Finance, Marketing, Operations and Technology. As Vice President of Information Technology, McKenna led Destination Disney, the company’s largest technology investment at the time.[2]
Soon after, McKenna became Senior Vice President, CRM and Chief Information Officer at Centex Destination Properties.[2]
McKenna later became Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Universal Orlando Resort, where she oversaw the technology strategy and led the launch of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.[2]
Following this time, McKenna became the President of Vision Interactive Media Group, where she led marketing, technology, business development, operations, and finance.[4]
Before joining the NFL, Michelle was Chief Information Officer at Constellation Energy, were she led the acquisition of competitive energy businesses and the ultimate merger with Exelon.[2]
In 2012, McKenna was hired as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the NFL, where she is responsible for the League’s technology strategy.[5] McKenna was a crucial piece in the success of the NFL's 2020 Virtual Draft, where she guided top draft prospects, coaches, general managers and the commissioner through the completely virtual format.[6]
Other Activities
[edit]McKenna is currently on the board of directors of RingCentral (RNG) and Alticor (AMWAY).[7][8] She has also served on the boards of ComScore (SCOR), Insperity (NSP), and Quotient Technologies (QUOT).[9][10][11] Additionally, she is also a member of the CNBC Technology Executive Council.[12]
Honors
[edit]McKenna received the 2020 CIO of the Year Orbie Award by AlabamaCIO.[13]
In 2013, Forty Over Forty – Women to Watch named McKenna as one of the top 40 women in business.[14]
McKenna was awarded the Game Changer Award by Sports Business Journal in 2014.[15]
