CVISION Technologies was founded in 1997 and provides client solutions to optimize workflow. According to the company, the key areas of their development and research are data compression and text recognition technologies. CVISION states that the majority of their products, such as document conversion and document capture solutions and technologies, are designed to simplify the transition from paper documents to electronic information, eliminating time-consuming and labour-intensive tasks such as retyping text and manual data entry.[3]

The company is also a member of both TAWPI[4] and AIIM[5]. In addition, the company's software is officially licensed by Adobe Systems. [6]

CVISION received a Grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2009. It was awarded with the intention of developing: "real-time algorithms for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) from documents. This real-time recognition (RT/OCR) system, to be fully developed under this SBIR award, performs recognition an order of magnitude faster than current commercial systems..."[8]
