Bluetooth LE integrated circuit implementations were announced by a number of manufacturers (Broadcom[1], Texas Instruments[2], CSR[3] and Nordic Semiconductor[4]), starting in late 2009. An IP implementation was announced by RivieraWaves in 2010. Commonly, these implementations use software radio, so that updates to the specification can be accommodated through a device firmware upgrade.
