Embracing the adage 'Knowledge unused is knowledge wasted' has been my guiding principle. Encouraged by my father, I had the freedom to pursue a career aligned with my interests, with an emphasis on how exposure to different places shapes thought processes. His insight underscored the significance of practical knowledge alongside theoretical understanding. My introduction to construction management occurred during a visit to one of my father’s projects on the city's periphery, where, engaged in developing apartments, I noticed a recurring issue—we consistently exceeded the budget. The primary culprit emerged as the procurement of materials, with the project's outskirts location inflating costs compared to similar city-based projects. This firsthand encounter highlighted the pivotal role of management in construction and architecture. My fascination with the built environment began during my undergraduate studies in Architecture, where I cultivated a deep appreciation for the amalgamation of form and function. Through intensive coursework and hands-on projects, I honed my skills in conceptualization, design implementation, and structural analysis. However, I soon realized that translating visionary designs into tangible edifices necessitates comprehensive support from construction management principles. I present this concise statement of purpose to elucidate my intent to pursue studies in the United States of America. I am Vudumudi Ashwini Sarada, seeking admission to the "Construction Management (MS)" program in the USA. Allow me to recount my academic journey as a testament to my commitment to future success. Completing my schooling and intermediate studies with determination and a positive attitude, I secured admission to GITAM SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, where I pursued my Bachelor's in Architecture in Hyderabad. Consistently demonstrating a high level of competence and proficiency throughout my academic pursuits, I received commendation for my dedication. Guided by exceptional professors, I developed a profound architectural perspective over five years. Moreover, I acquired proficiency in various software programs, including AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, Google Sketch Up, Enscape, and Adobe Photoshop. Embracing a multidisciplinary approach, I aim to leverage my architectural acumen to delve deeper into the intricacies of project management, cost estimation, risk analysis, and sustainable construction methodologies—integral facets encapsulated within the ambit of construction management. The ethos of innovation and academic excellence embodied by Gitam School of Architecture resonates deeply with my aspirations. The esteemed faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and the emphasis on a holistic approach to education align perfectly with my academic ambitions. I am excited about the opportunity to not just expand my own knowledge but also make a valuable contribution to the academic environment through cooperative research and scholarly pursuits. Throughout my fifth-year practical training program, I had the chance to closely work on a high-rise project where I came to understand that construction embodies a continuous learning curve. I grasped that each project's dynamics, encompassing site conditions, climate, transportation, material supply, and budget, shape its unique trajectory. Witnessing how these varied conditions influenced architectural construction heightened my intrigue in construction management, ultimately motivating my pursuit of a Master's in Construction Management. My short-term goal is to take up the role of a construction manager after my master’s degree and build on my skills in the development, design element, and construction of residential and commercial spaces. After gaining enough exposure, my long-term goal is to start my own project management firm in India dealing with architectural design and construction projects. I have internship experience for a period of 6 months at 23 Degree Design Shift (June 2023 – November 2023), experiencing the difficulties an architect faces to satisfy clients' requirements and fulfill their wishes. This period trained me in new software programs like Lumion, Adobe InDesign & V-ray, along with advanced skills in AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, 3DS Max, Google Sketch Up, and Adobe Photoshop. I have come to understand that in this growing architectural society, the knowledge gained from the 5-year bachelor program is not enough. Greater levels of skill and proficiency are needed to survive in the competitive world. Beyond academia, I am eager to immerse myself in the vibrant tapestry of cultural diversity that the United States offers. Engaging with peers from diverse backgrounds will broaden my perspectives and foster learning outside the confines of the classroom. The appeal of selecting the U.S.A. as my destination for education has always been compelling. Extensive research revealed that the U.S. offers top-tier research opportunities and boasts an advanced, high-quality education system. Notably, the American education system prioritizes practical learning and cutting-edge technology. Equally significant are the advantages of holding an international degree, widely esteemed in India, and the relatively affordable cost of education compared to other nations. Opting for the United States presents an avenue to expand my knowledge, immerse myself in a new culture, and embrace a vibrant student lifestyle. Moreover, an international degree would significantly enhance my career prospects while providing ample opportunities to refine my decision-making, leadership, and critical thinking skills. As an individual, my aspiration is to excel in every endeavor I undertake. Beyond my professional and academic commitments, I actively engaged in diverse extracurricular pursuits.
