Editing Plan

Below is our editing plan outline. The outline is describe in subsections where we will be making our edits. In the intro we will making minor edits to the definition of backwards chaining. In the procedure portion cover the process before backwards chaining is implemented such as: task analysis, observations, assessments, etc. In the fading section will will make edits to how one achieves mastery of backwards chaining and how to fade it out. Lastly, we will cover advantages/disadvantages to backwards chaining. This will include other types of chaining and if chaining is compatable with complex skills. We also may include a considerations sections where questions can be answered about the process and specific circumstances. While we both might contribute to edits in all the sections, we will split up the final editing work by dividing the sections between the two of us. Quetzali will edit the introduction, fading, and other considerations and McKayla will edit the procedure, advantages, and disadvantages.

Introduction:

• What is backward chaining?

*The adult prompts the learner throughout the steps on the chain and gives the learner an opportunity to complete the last one independently. However, if unable to do so the adult helps by also prompting the learner through the last step. Reinforcement is given to the learner once the last step is completed.(2) Because independency is desired the goal is to remove prompts as soon as the learner can complete the steps without help.(3)

Procedure:

-       Process before implementing backwards chaining (task analysis, observations, assessments, etc.)

Fading:

-        What it takes to fade? Mastery? How is mastery achieved and defined?

Advantages/Disadvantages:

-       Any limitations (skills that are more complex than steps?)

-       What are the advantages of using backwards over forward or total task?

-       What if learning knows a step or is not achieving a specific step?

-       What if the learner independently backwards chains a prompted step?
