Kathryn D. Huff was appointed as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the United States Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy on May 10, 2021, taking a leave of absence from her position as a professor of nuclear engineering in the Department of Nuclear, Plasma and Radiological Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Huff co-authored "Effective Computation in Physics: Field Guide to Research with Python" with Anthony Scopatz.
Education
[edit]Huff obtained a Bachelor of Science in physics at the University of Chicago in 2008 and a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013. She held a post-doctoral appointment at the University of California-Berkeley from 2013 through 2016, including two years as one of the first Data Science Fellows in the Berkeley Institute for Data Science. She began as an assistant professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2016.
