Quotographics or quotographs is the term used to represent graphical forms of famous quotes and sayings. Earlier, the quotes and famous sayings where published as texts. Though texts are considered to be a boring way of expressing emotional text, quotes in the form of texts already have a warm welcome. Quotographics add images related to the quote and saying making it more inspirational, emotional and getting the most impact.

The origin of the term

The concept of presenting quotes along with images existed since a very long time. The most common motivational posters are very good thumb:Branded Quotographic.jpg examples for the same. The idea of motivational posters is to present inspiration, motivation and the message more appealing to the reader. Not only the motivational posters, but also the quotes and famous sayings were also represented along with images for a better impact. There was no specific term used for such graphical presentations back then. After the wide use of the infographics, which are pictorial representations of information (Info = Information + Graphics = Image), these graphics were referred as Quotographics (Quoto= Quote + Graphics = Image).

Usage of the term

Sites that share Quotes and sayings

There are hundreds of websites that share famous sayings and quotes in the form of text. The term Quotographics is mainly in use in the internet. These sites would have a huge database of a collection of quotes, usually categorized based on the nature of the quote. Recently, there are a few websites available that share pictorial form of quotes which represent them as Quotographics. However, majority of the website represent the same as Quote Graphics.

Quotographics and internet marketing

Apart from the sources that share the quotes and sayings, this concept is used as a part of internet marketing and branding as well. Quotographic promotion is done similar to infographic promotion, where the quote authorship is usually credited to a brand. If the quotographic used is a n inspired saying of some other author, the graphic would be just branded with the company logo. The quotographics are mainly used for branding and brand promotion.

Quotographics and social media

According to statistics and research sources, quotes with images are 5th most engaging content in Facebook. Generally pictures are the most shared type of content in the social media. With the introduction of social sites such as pinterest and fancy, the quotographics are spread to a wider audience. The humorous, inspirational and touching nature makes the quotographics the right content to be shared in the social media among social circles.
