Eddy Kovac specializes in and is a master of the art of robotics, poppin, lockin, tickin, and floor work. Eddy also holds black belts in two martial arts and adds this to his choreography. Between 1986 to1990 Eddy became well known in the Denver area as one of the top freestyle dancers in Colorado. In 1989 Eddy entered and won The Pepsi Summer Tour Regional Dance Competition in Colorado. In 1990 he moved to San Luis Obispo CA,. where he was given a full scholarship to Pat Jackson’s American Dance. In 1991 Eddy got his first teaching job at the Academy of Dance in San Luis Obispo and continued his training in Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Tap and had a very strong focus on Ballet. Eddy was given an opportunity to teach a master class at Cal Poly University SLO and through that he became a regular guest teacher. He also taught at most of the schools in the Central Coast area. In 1993 Eddy taught Street Jazz at Dance in Action in California. He also taught at Questa Collage in Morro Bay California. In 1992 Eddy became one of the first people in the country to teach Cardio Funk, known today as “Hip Hop abs”, He toured around the United States teaching other professionals how to format and instruct a hip hop aerobics class. He is AFFA certified to teach aerobics and was a world class ACE certified personal trainer from 1992-2005. The programs he went through with Team Reebok taught him how to teach others to become dance instructors making Eddy the only Master Instructor in Roswell New Mexico. Upon arriving back to Colorado he spent 1 season on staff at The Dance Center of Colorado Springs. Eddy was the artistic director for The Gandy Dancer Studio in Louisville Colorado where he worked with the CU Express at The University of Colorado Boulder. In 1998 Eddy taught Hip Hop at Cleo Parker Robinson’s in Denver. In 1996 and 1997 Eddy choreographed the dance sections that the Columbine High School cheer squad took to and won the national cheerleading championship. Eddy Became the Hip Hop Director at The Dance Center of Colorado Springs in 2003 where he has gained notoriety and several regional dance competitions with his cutting edge style and award winning innovative choreography. Eddy has always been on the cutting edge when it comes to choreography, earning respect from students, parents and his peers. He has won many awards at regional competitions including top choreography, most dynamic style, perfect precision, as well as receiving platinum and gold medals in all categories. As a dancer Eddy has performed with the San Luis Jazz Dancers and the Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo where he was one of the premier dancers in both companies. In the 8 years Eddy worked and performed he was privileged to be on stage more than ten thousand times in core and lead roles. He was also given freedom to choreograph material for shows he was a part of. Eddy has traveled to Bangkok Thailand to tour with Warner Brothers, worked on commercials for diet coke, assisted with choreography preparation for movies and videos and has help develop new recording artists. In 2007 Eddy played the dance role of Adam in New Life Church’s production of “The Thorn”. Eddy was also the pose consultant for pro bodybuilder Andy Haman. Most recently one of Eddy's former students took a tap solo the Talent On Parade national level competition and was awarded top first in her category and 6th over all for the top over all performer competition. Eddy Has helped to produce dancers that have gone on to tour with Aaron Carter, dance in Britney Spears videos, Ice Cube Videos, and have gotten leads in Broadway shows.The limits of Eddy's ability are far reaching He is a gifted and inspirational teacher.
