I am making a list for using as much as is possible in Indian English tagged articles, all meanings and examples are from the OED (online, subscription needed):

retaliate (verb, transitive), now rare and Indian English (OED, 3rd ed, 2010). To return or repay in kind (an injury, insult, etc.); to avenge.

E.g. 1817 J. Mill Hist. Brit. India II. iv. v. 200 The native officers..imagined they had now authority for retaliating some of the indignities.
E.g. 2007 Hindustan Times 28 May 9/3 Lance Naik Bhanu Bkakta of the 2/8 Gorkha Rifles received serious bullet injuries while retaliating fire.

to take the sense of: to ascertain the general feeling or opinion of a formal body such as a court, committee, legislative assembly, etc. Now chiefly Indian English.

1817 M. Edgeworth Harrington ii. 35 He ran down to the country to take the sense of his constituents.
1993 Times of India 12 May 1/2 The speaker..took the sense of the house.
2013 Assam (India) Tribune (Nexis) 18 Dec. Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien..assured that he would first take the sense of the House before taking a decision in this regard.
