Craig Garrison Vice principal's heroism earns Senate's accolades The CommonWealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Senate adopted a resolution commending Saipan Southern High School Vice Principal Craig Garrison for his heroic deed, when the administrator saved an infant from drowning off the San Antonio beach. Sen. Pete P. Reyes, author of Senate Resolution 13-24, noted that “in an era of individualism and self-interest, it is commendable for an individual to assist someone in peril and in dire need of assistance.”

According to reports, Garrison helped a one-year-old child escape death by administering mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the victim. The little boy was reportedly not breathing when Garrison got to him. The school administrator was swimming at the San Antonio beach with his wife when he was alerted by a cry for help from individuals seeking emergency assistance.According to reports, the victim had apparently been playing in the water when he was later found lying face down and unresponsive.Garrison had checked the infant's pulse and at first, could not feel air coming from the boy's nose and mouth.The vice principal then administered rescue breathing on the victim until medics arrived to transport him to the hospital.

“Saipan Southern High School Vice Principal Craig Garrison stayed with the young child until such time that an ambulance from the Department of Public Safety arrived and transported the young child to the Commonwealth Health Center,” SR 13-24 stated.
