Delaware close-in-age exception

[edit]

There are various sources which claim that Delaware has a close-in-age exception which allows for adults under age 30 to have sexual contact with 16 and 17 year olds, citing Section 770 in the following source:

The 2024 version of Section 768 applies when the perpetrator is at least 30 years old, but it doesn't imply that the act is legal if the perpetrator is less than 30 years old.

    • Notwithstanding the above, Provisions generally applicable to sexual offenses (part d) provide a four-year close-in-age defense for a victim under age 16, providing the victim is at least 12 years old. Undetermined at this time is whether there is a provision that addresses the case of a victim age 16 or 17
    • Section 770 is the one that's likely to trip people up. It defines each of the following as criminal acts:
      • sexual intercourse with a person under age 16 (in two separate provisions)
    • Section 771 criminalizes having sex with a person under age 16 by a person at least 10 years older; there's another provision that applies to a person under age 14, but we can set that aside, since the situation for 16 and 17 year olds is already sufficiently confusing.
      • sexual intercourse with a person under age 18 by a person age 30 or over (where is this provision?)

  • Note the citations above are not from the official site but from Justia. Justia should be verified against the official State of Delaware site.

endangered species

[edit]

Either "endangered" (by itself) or "endangered species" is capitalized. ("Endangered Species Act" is correct.)

"Sharmeed Obaid-Chinoy" should be Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, added in revision of 03:49, 3 May 2018.

Air rage incident occurred on or about October 8, 2022 involving a passenger on United Airlines who had taken psilocybin. Claim was added in the revision of 21:35, 1 April 2023 . This was supported by a citation to the Simple Flying website]. The citation was removed on 21:29, 09 June 2024 as being an unreliable source, and the claim itself was subsequently removed on 21:24, 26 September 2024.

There are numerous reliable sources available for the original story as well as for follow-up stories:

  • revision of 21:23, 5 August 2023
    • University president Charles S. Casassa issued a policy prohibiting "unlawful student protests". Here are the citations provided:
      • The first is evidently a "temporary link" which has expired, thus resulting in an xml response indicating "access denied"
        • Lo and behold, this Wayback archive link is working fine:
        • Pertinent text states that "... the university recognized freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and the legal and moral rights of those engaged in such activities. However, Casassa states that unlawful protest and/ or demonstrations that would disrupt university functions are unlawful."
    • Another source provided, from the "Promoting Social Justice" website, is a letter from Casassa, which incorporates the Policy on Unlawful Student Protest"

Loyola University of Los Angeles, as a responsible and dedicated educational community, recognizes the right of orderly, responsible student protest. This right is one facet of the University's function as an open forum for the free expression of ideas. While recognizing freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and the like, the University also recognizes the legal and moral rights of those engaged in the normal activities of the University.

Loyola University deplores unlawful protest. Any protest or demonstration which impedes the normal and orderly functioning of the University is unlawful. Should this occur it is the right and responsibility of the University to act to remedy the situation even to the extent of summoning municipal authority.

Marriage ages

Claim of three sets of marriage ages was made in the 06:37, 08 March 2021 edit of Marriage in the United States.

Okay, check the 11 August 2014 edit of Post-democracy.

There should have been a comma after "lobbying", which is confused in subsquent edits to create greater nonsense.

series of desperate edits

[edit]

See this example of a desperate edit.

So the giveaway is that this is one of a couple of dozen edits of articles by one editor, who over a period of 3 or 4 months, made a series of edits, each one of which is marked as "minor" and few of which would reasonably meet this criterion.

After receiving some notice about the problems with these edits, the editor rationalized this edit, providing an unduly lengthy edit summary.

I added this because I thought it was silly to have a hyperlink for the "legal" category or reasons for sexual frustration. I suppose this would cover the situation for people who are either prohibited from having sex or who are prohibited from having sex with the category of person they desire.

What comes to mind is persons in prison, who may be lawfully prohibited from having sex with another person as well as generally not having access to someone of the preferred sex. This could also apply to underage persons (particularly in states for which the "close-in-age" exception doesn't necessarily apply for their age). As I started this off with the mention of the "legal" category, if we are retaining that in this list, the Wikilink to law is considered to be inappropriate as it is a "common" word used in its ordinary meaning.

  • See revision of 16:30, 25 May 2022.
    • Adds claim that "... grandfather clauses ... stated that one can only vote if their grandfather voted". The literary test requirement would have been added to eliminate the objection that it denied the right to vote merely on the basis that they were the grandchild of a person who did not have the right to vote; adding the literacy test mean that it was permissible to vote even though your father was not allowed to vote.
  • See revision of 17:37, 23 April 2016. The word "affectively" should be "effectively".
  • See revision of 17:41, 23 April 2016. The following text does not properly convey the intent that this play should not be performed, but only read: ... people have honored Marita Bonner's wishes and have not produced a published production of this play.
  • See revision of 15:57, 27 September 2024. There are severeal references to the "almighty" which had been capitalized, but which were changed to lower case in this revision.
  • As of the last revision shown above, there are at least a couple of places that would benefit from inserting a comma and it would also benefit from an apostrophe in at least one place.

Thomas Conner is a redirect to Sean Connery. The appropriate redirect would be from "Thomas Connery". Although there is currently no article on enwiki for Thomas Conner, it is available on dewiki at de:Thomas Conner.

To Be or Not to Be (1942 film): content in the infobox stating that Ernst Lubitsch and Miklós Rózsa are uncredited was removed without explanation. Proper removal would have been to add either {{citation needed}} or {{failed verification}}, but that was not done. Here's an example source to verify this claim.

See revision of 21:03, 23 August 2024 for an interwiki link (Amélia Hamburger) formatted to resemble a link created using {{interlanguage link}}. It's unclear what the incentive is for avoiding the use of {{interlanguage link}}.

See revision of 10:29, 1 March 2025. Nonsensical addition of white space.
