The CC201 locomotive is a diesel-electric locomotive owned by Kereta Api Indonesia produced by General Electric Transportation with the GE U18C model. The CC201 locomotive has a mass of 84 tons (83 long tons; 93 short tons ). The design of this locomotive is slimmer and is capable of producing power of 1,454 kW (1,950 hp). This locomotive has a Co'Co' axle arrangement, namely two bogies each with three driven axles . On flat or mountainous tracks, the speed of the CC201 locomotive can reach 120 km/h (75 mph).
Throughout time, this locomotive has been experienced in pulling various types of trains, from executive, business, economy, mixed, to freight/cargo trains. However, currently, this locomotive is more widely operated for business, mixed, economy, and local class trains, including serving as a shunter replacing the D300, D301, or BB300 locomotives and used for training prospective machinists. This locomotive is the most successful GE Transportation locomotive in Indonesia, considering the availability of sufficient spare parts. The role of diesel hydraulic locomotives in Sumatra and Java has also begun to be replaced by this locomotive.
History
[edit]The CC201 locomotive consists of four generations, namely the first generation, second generation, third generation, and the locomotive which is the result of the rehabilitation of the BB203 locomotive.
