They were all given Old English names, which can be found in The Shaping of Middle-Earth: Maedhros is Dægred Winsterhand, Maglor Dægmund Swinsere, Celegorm Cynegrim Fægerfeax, Curufin Cyrefinn Fácensearo, Caranthir Colþegn Nihthelm, Amrod Déormód and Amras Tirgeld (both huntan, hunters). Old English names of the Finwëans from HoME IV (linky linky)

As if they didn't already have enough names...

Fëanor is Finbrós Gimwyrhta, and his sons are the Brósingas or Yrfeloran (the Disposessed): Dægred Winsterhand (Maedhros), Dægmund Swinsere (Maglor), Cynegrim Fægerfeax (Celegorm), Cyrefinn Fácensearo (Curufin), Colþegn Nihthelm (Caranthir, at this point called Cranthir), Déormód (Amrod) and Tirgeld (Amras).

Fingolfin is Fingold Fengel, and his children are Finbrand (Fingon, at this point called Finweg), Finstán (Turgon), and Finhwít (Aredhel). Fingon here has a son Fingár; Idril is Ideshild Silfrenfót; Eöl is Éor and Maeglin is Mánfrið.

Finarfin (at this point still Finrod) is Finred Felanóþ, and his sons are Ingláf Felahrór (Finrod, then called Inglor; at this point Felagund is already an epessë), Ordred (Orodreth), Angel (Angrod), and Eangrim (Aegnor). Orodreth is here given two sons, Ordhelm and Ordláf, as well as a daughter Friþuswíþ Fealuléome (Finduilas).

Lastly, a fourth son of Finwë is listed: Finrún Felageómor.

(Strangely Finwë himself does not appear to have an old English name?! Maybe he is just Finn. Eärendil doesn't have a name either, but maybe it literally is Éarendel, which is its out-of-universe source.) Double sharp (talk) 10:21, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
