Mathspace is an online mathematics program designed for students in primary, secondary, and tertiary education. More than 1 million users, predominantly aged between 7 and 18, access the platform from Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and New Zealand.

Mathspace uses an adaptive learning model to personalize the educational experience for each student. The questions presented to a user are chosen by a machine learning algorithm that responds to past performance, and student input is evaluated by an equivalence engine to provide real-time feedback on their progress within each problem. Additional step-by-step support is offered in the form of hints and video tutorials to guide them to the solution. Mathspace then analyzes each student's performance and generates accompanying report statistics for their teachers.

Partnerships

[edit]

Mathspace partnered with global publishing and education company Pearson PLC in 2016. Mathspace was incorporated into Pearson's MyMathLab program for use in higher education institutions in the United States[2].

Mathspace entered into an ongoing partnership with Westpac in 2017. Westpac is sponsoring Mathspace's digital textbook, Mathspace Essentials, to make it free for all Australian users. Additionally, the Solve to Save program, available for users of Mathspace's premium product Mathspace Plus, refunds the $10 weekly subscription fee into a student's bank account after completing sufficient work throughout the week[3].

In 2017 Mathspace was selected by the Hong Kong government as part of a digital learning initiative promoting the use of e-learning resources in schools[4].
