I was doing my routine Wikipedia work, checking on all of the articles that newly appeared on my Watchlist, and I came upon Yochlol. I was quite surprised when I found out that it was no longer a stub! I must say, nice work! Great picture, too. Jarlaxle June 29, 2005 21:37 (UTC)

Chinese

[edit]

You translate Forgotten Realms into Chinese? Wow, that's really cool. There's a Chinese Wikipedia at zh:Wikipedia. Perhaps you could translate some of the English FR articles into Chinese and post them there? You know, spreading the FR knowledge. Jarlaxle July 2, 2005 21:38 (UTC)

Well, i been doing exactly that in our BBS. Currently though I would like to contribute more to English based FR matrials first, since from what i see here, many are in the lack. I saw that Mr. Jarlaxle is an active participant too. Nice to meet you, and nice cooperating, too. --Cynehelm 3 July 2005 12:47 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:FCUcampus2.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FCUcampus2.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --cohesion | talk 03:31, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

Invitation to the Forgotten Realms project

[edit]

Hi,

We are working on a Forgotten Realms Project to map Toril (mostly Faerûn, at the present). Since you contributed quite a lot on a Forgotten Realms-specific entry, I'd like to invite you to join the project, so we could improve the “Mapping the Realms” project.

The goal is to create a sort of World Factbook for the Realms. This means:

  • A consistent content
  • Use of templates
  • Entries should be limited to “sovereign places”: states and free cities, as well a moderately-inhabited place such as the Western Highlands.

On top of this, we also plan to cover Lost Empires, such as Pelvuria or Imaskar and, of course, Netheril

Main contributors are presently

If you know some other person who would be interested, feel free to forward the invitation!

Feel free to take a look. We hope to see you soon mapping the Realms with us! Reply to David Latapie 12:51, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Waterdeepmapfrcs.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Waterdeepmapfrcs.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Muchness 16:58, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]

You stated that the picture came from the Amber and Ash book cover, however, I've never even heard of Amber and Ash, although I have heard of Amber and Ashes (unless you directly translated the title from chinese into english). In addition, by googling for Amber and Ashes or Amber and Iron, that image still does not appear. What is the source of it (internet website, scanner, etc) , and where does it come from?Ddcc 20:16, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:BG1.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BG1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 16:21, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:MiramarPara.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MiramarPara.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:09, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:FCUcampus2.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FCUcampus2.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 18:27, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Elminster rom.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Elminster rom.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi, about Takhisis

[edit]

I noticed that you undid the redirect I performed to Takhisis. I've done many similar redirects that are all appropriate; you see, the individual gods of the Dragonlance setting aren't really notable enough for their own articles, so I've redone the List of Dragonlance deities with succinct and clear information (referenced to boot) which covers all that Wikipedia should have on them. 20 other articles on the other gods, all very near to Takhisis, have been redirected. I'd appreciate your thoughts and comments either on my talk page or on the article talk page. Thanks! DoomsDay349 19:37, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

YEAH, and who do you THINK you are, that it is only your thoughts matters, and you did this without discussions. "which cover ALL wikipedia should have on them", what's that ? you alone can run wikipedia? --Cynehelm 00:49, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Hey, bud, whoa. Calm down for a second. Remember to be civil. What I've done here is that I've rewritten the List of Dragonlance deities to present clear, concise, and up to date information using the established source for the various deities of Dragonlance, that is, Holy Orders of the Stars. What Holy Orders of the Stars does is presents the modern and standard information on these deities, and I've taken what's in there and updated and expanded that list to reflect that information. Now that all the information is cleanly presented in that article, there's nothing else that having 21 independent articles can cover, short of creating a lot of unnecessary external articles. As for who I think I am, I think I'm an editor on Wikipedia trying to do what's best for Dragonlance and the entire project on the whole. I believe I've addressed all that Wikipedia should have on them, and I certainly don't think that I alone can run Wikipedia. Thanks! DoomsDay349 00:55, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi, I'd prefer that we get this issue resolved by talking things out rather than a lot of reversions. Please, respond here or on my talk page, and let's get this whole deal sorted out. DoomsDay349 01:01, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
i certainly does not like the word "there is nothing else to write about", i certainly does not like someone claiming his article "clear", when it all written in-universe with out wikify with single reference, "concise" where it is not needed since in an encyclopedia old facts are as important as new, and "update to date" only becasue he referenced a book published 2 years ago. the data you posted is suitable for fansites or whatever offical sites, not here. you think you are doing your best, yet you do it without talk. you remove others' right to edit their favorite gods by clustering these articles together, you destroyed their previous dedicated efforts base on your little understanding and judgement. i think you do run wikipedia. i think you also run wizard of the coast. --Cynehelm 01:28, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

i hate your tone, really.

Firstly, what else do you recommend writing about?

everything your little list can encompress such as detailed history, such as apperances in each and every dragonlance products, such as criticsms, such as pictures, such as church organizations, such as know worshippers.

It covers the gods' personalities and domains and what history there is. It is currently up for peer review to address problems so I won't discuss the issue of in-universe in it; however, just about every other piece of information on the gods of other settings is written in a similar fashion.
It is concise because it covers the accepted information (accepted as told to me by a game designer, Cam Banks, and a lady named Margaret Weis who carries a bit of weight in the DL setting).

who are they ? margaret ? oh yes you run the wotc you know them. of course she would say right, nothing worng with the facts you posted if this was a dragonlance encyclopedia. a small one perhaps. This is a real world encyclopedia which everyone can write, if she is interested, tell she to come and edit.

It is up to date because it uses the official source for deities on Krynn, again told to me by the same game designer and author. The information presents what a person looking up the gods of Dragonlance on Wikipedia needs to know.

I don't care who toild you, up to date ? what about information such as stories in novels such as the dark disciples ? and what about the old history in old novels and old settings? you think they are not needed. yes, you run the wikipedia.

I mentioned the redirects on the talk page and editors like User:ReyBrujo and User:ddcc had all the right to interject at any point.
How I remove someone's right to edit an article on a god is beyond me, when you can do it just as easily in the main article.

by clustering these together, you limited others' willingness and possibility to edit them. when separated each article has greater possibility of growing.

I have destroyed no efforts and have merely updated and enhanced Wikipedia's coverage, which I think is the point we're all here.

you destroyed A LOT. you REPLACED those with your own descriptions, no ? Enhanced coverage ?? you shorten them only. I am not here to do such thing.

I certainly don't run Wikipedia (no one does), and last I checked I wasn't Hasbro. DoomsDay349 01:37, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

don't be humble, ceo. --Cynehelm 02:21, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I am more than happy to discuss resolutions to the problem with you in a civil manner but am not overtly fond of what is becoming a constant criticism of myself. If you would like to discuss possible additions then by all means. I see no problems with my tone, though since tone can hardly be implied via text, I don't see how one can insinuate tone. As I said, the article is up for peer review and I'd like for that to be complete before we go making a lot of drastic changes to the list. Furthermore I cannot possibly understand what you are talking about regarding running Wizards; I don't. I talk to Cam and Margaret because they regularly post on the official message boards. Frankly I would have much preferred you had followed more regular channels like posting your comments on the talk page of the article and discussing this in a calm and level headed manner. DoomsDay349

i am calm and level headed. while my english may not be as skillful as yours to engage in civilized conversation, you still dodge my questions. i don't care whatever peer-review it is currently under. the list is a good list, i will give that much. Redirecting individual article which you destroyed is unacceptable, though those who cooperated did not voice their objections. i see no point of continuing this talk IF you do not respect any single of my barbaric points. as of drastic change, you did it first, no ? who is the "we" you are talking about ? all wikipedian ? the runnung wizard thing is a joke of course, since you have the power to decide there is nothing else to write, these are all needed, and these are up-to-date. and frankly i prefer this barbaric talk to stay here until either i am enlightneed or your are barbarized. --Cynehelm 02:47, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I neither accused you of barbarism, which I sincerly apologize if you thought I was, nor do I intend to delve into barbarism which goes quite against Wikipedia policy. I respect that your English is not as good as others.

you don't have to respect me, you are the one being barbaric, since what you are doing is similar to great firewall of china. you want to control informations, you want to control quality, and worse, you assume you have quality.

Now I think the issue here is that you have issue with my redirecting of all the articles- correct? I perfectly understand that. Personally I feel that the individual articles don't meet the standards for notability on Wikipedia. It is apparent that you do.

you really fond of simplifying things. I don't think they have qualities, yet it won't do to replace them. if you are good, you can make each article good, they have to grow on their own, you see ? you have to encourage others to co-edit each article, and encourage them to love dl in the process. well maybe you are too civil to understand what i am talking about.

So I think the best thing to do for us is to go to the talk page of the questioned article, present opposing arguments, and await the input of others. I'll talk to ddcc and ReyBrujo and ask them to come and comment. If you are acceptive of the community discussion, then I'll post a message on the talk page and alert them (as they are the other two active users within Dragonlance). Now, for the present, I think the smartest thing to do is leave things exactly as they are (leave your undone redirects in place and leave the already redirected in place as well) and wait until we have a clear consensus. DoomsDay349 03:05, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Just to let you know that I'm leaving for the night and we can continue matters tomorrow. Hope to have this all sorted out. DoomsDay349 03:09, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

yeah yeah brabra
