Contrell William "Phat" Hudson (born November 16, 2003), also known by his stage name Phat-Man (often stylized as PHATMAN), is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, record executive, actor and entrepreneur. His debut mixtape, Welcome to Sipp-Hop (2025), contributed to the popularization of Mississippi rap.

Born and raised in Mississippi, Hudson released his debut album, Phat Tha Biggest (2026). At the 69th Grammy Awards, it won Album of the Year, while Hudson also won Best New Artist.
Early life
[edit]Contrell William Hudson was born on November 16, 2003, at the Madison County Medical Center in Canton, Mississippi, to Shana Sharell Gregory (born 1985), and CW "Buddy" Hudson III (born 1982). His parents form his name to match the initials of his father, uncle and grandfather. He was given the nickname "Phat-Man" or simply "Phat" when he was a baby. Growing up his maternal grandmother, Tara Mitchell; would give each one of her grandchildren a nickname in which she called Hudson "Manz".
Hudson was known for his good basketball shooting skills while playing in friendly games in the neighborhood which led to him getting the nickname "Glock".
In 2022, Hudson graduated from Lanier High School. He is a member of the Gangster Disciples.
Hudson initially wanted to rap under the stage name "MGM Glock" (Initialism for Menace Gettin' Money Glock) but felted he would be copyrighted by the MGM company in the future. He decided to adopt his childhood nickname Phat-Man as his stage name.

[edit]Before beginning his rap career Hudson would established his independent record label, Trellride Records and rap collective, Menace Gettin' Money Crew (MGM). He would quickly gained local attention from his first few songs such as "Day One", "Stop Playin" and "Keep Em Comin". He would then released his debut mixtape, Welcome to Sipp-Hop, the mixtape gained him national attention.
