![]() | Evaluate an article
Complete your article evaluation below. Here are the key aspects to consider: Lead sectionA good lead section defines the topic and provides a concise overview. A reader who just wants to identify the topic can read the first sentence. A reader who wants a very brief overview of the most important things about it can read the first paragraph. A reader who wants a quick overview can read the whole lead section.
ContentA good Wikipedia article should cover all the important aspects of a topic, without putting too much weight on one part while neglecting another.
Tone and BalanceWikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view; if there are substantial differences of interpretation or controversies among published, reliable sources, those views should be described as fairly as possible.
Sources and ReferencesA Wikipedia article should be based on the best sources available for the topic at hand. When possible, this means academic and peer-reviewed publications or scholarly books.
Organization and writing qualityThe writing should be clear and professional, the content should be organized sensibly into sections.
Images and Media
Talk page discussionThe article's talk page — and any discussions among other Wikipedia editors that have been taking place there — can be a useful window into the state of an article, and might help you focus on important aspects that you didn't think of.
Overall impressions
Examples of good feedbackA good article evaluation can take a number of forms. The most essential things are to clearly identify the biggest shortcomings, and provide specific guidance on how the article can be improved. |
Which article are you evaluating?
[edit]Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?
[edit]I chose this article to evaluate because my research project is about La La Land, what it can tell us about the Hollywood dream, and why celebrities experience disillusionment with the Hollywood dream. Articles like this will provide a central place to get accurate information about the movie, which is why I chose this specific article to evaluate.

[edit]Overall, the design of the article is very good. There is a clear logical flow, which goes from overall introduction, to plot, to cast/production, to release, to reception - a chronological order. The article is also written in a very neutral voice, and seems very unbiased. Looking at the lead section, I think it's very comprehensive and thorough. I think the first paragraph, which is a very brief synopsis of the movie, is especially well written, considering the next section is a detailed plot. It isn't too short, nor is it too long, and gets its point across.
One thing I think this article could work on is being too wordy and long. Some of the content, like the section in "casting" which delves into Emma Stone's background as an actress, seem a bit irrelevant. Also, the use of subheaders is inconsistent. Sometimes, a subheader will make way for multiple paragraphs, while other times, a subheader will be followed by one or two sentences.
However, something that the article does really well is the article is up to date, even including the recently announced Broadway adaptation. The article is also very well supported by references, and manages to stay neutral, strictly reporting on the facts, and not pushing any opinions or narratives on the reader. I would've liked to see more use of media and images; the article felt very text heavy and was overwhelming at times. Being an article about a movie, I would've liked to see a lot of pictures, either of the film, of the filming process, or anything else relating to the film. This seems like a missed opportunity.
However, overall I thought this was a very well-rounded article. It is clear, very detailed, and contains a lot of very good, high-quality, evidence-backed information surrounding the movie La La Land.
