The Hudl 2, stylised hudl2, is an Android-based tablet computer produced by the British retilerTesco. It was announced in October 2014 and is the successor to the original Tesco Hudl, released on September 30, 2013. The device features an 8.3 inch screen, a 1.83 Ghz quad-core processor and 16 GB of internal flash memory (expandable up to 48 GB). The hudl2 runs the Android KitKat operating system and is manufactured by Wistron
Hardware
[edit]CPU, GPU and RAM The Hudl is powered by an Intel Atom, quad-core CPU, clocked at 1.83 GHz. Which is supported by 2gb of in built RAM. The graphical side of the core is powered by Intel HD graphics.
Screen and input
[edit]The Tesco Hudl 2 features an 8.3” IPS panel, LCD display with a resolution of HD 1920x1200 and a pixel density of 256ppi. In comparison to the older model, Tesco Hudl, which featured a 7” 1400x900 LCD display with a pixel density of 242ppi, this is a significant improvement. The screen size of 8.3” has been said to enhance the full HD experience, however, the brightness of the screen has been commented on as not being incredibly bright with the white colours lacking. [1] The screen features a multi-touch capacitive panel. And contained within the device is a gyroscopic sensor, 3-axis accelerometer and an ambient light sensor. It is also possible to connect the Hudl to an external display through use of the on board HDMI slot.
Audio and output
[edit]The audio on the Tesco Hudl 2 is implemented by Dolby Audio speakers. It features two rear facing speakers on the back of the device, in the format of speaker holes in two rows at each side of the device. The Hudl features a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Battery
[edit]No information has been disclosed on the specific battery specifications that the Hudl uses, however, the developer – Tesco – have claimed that the battery life will last 8 hours which is an hour more than the original Hudl.
Storage
[edit]The Hudl comes with 16gb of internal storage. The total storage capacity of the Hudl is expandable through the implementation of a micro SD card slot.
Accessories
[edit]There are a wide range of accessories available for the Hudl 2. Tesco have offered a selection of stylised cases for the Hudl, a variety of different styli, a pair of children’s headphones, earbud headphones, screen protectors and car charging kits.[2]
