![]() | Evaluate an article
Complete your article evaluation below. Here are the key aspects to consider: Lead sectionA good lead section defines the topic and provides a concise overview. A reader who just wants to identify the topic can read the first sentence. A reader who wants a very brief overview of the most important things about it can read the first paragraph. A reader who wants a quick overview can read the whole lead section.
ContentA good Wikipedia article should cover all the important aspects of a topic, without putting too much weight on one part while neglecting another.
Tone and BalanceWikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view; if there are substantial differences of interpretation or controversies among published, reliable sources, those views should be described as fairly as possible.
Sources and ReferencesA Wikipedia article should be based on the best sources available for the topic at hand. When possible, this means academic and peer-reviewed publications or scholarly books.
Organization and writing qualityThe writing should be clear and professional, the content should be organized sensibly into sections.
Images and Media
Talk page discussionThe article's talk page — and any discussions among other Wikipedia editors that have been taking place there — can be a useful window into the state of an article, and might help you focus on important aspects that you didn't think of.
Overall impressions
Examples of good feedbackA good article evaluation can take a number of forms. The most essential things are to clearly identify the biggest shortcomings, and provide specific guidance on how the article can be improved. |

[edit]Environmental impacts of artificial intelligence
Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?
[edit]I chose this article because I feel like it is very relevant to this class. In general, AI is taking over a lot of platforms and is commonly used by students. However, not many people know its environmental impacts, so I thou
ght it would be interesting to evaluate what it says.
Evaluate the article
[edit]Lead section: I did not find the lead of this article to be very intriguing. I also feel like it contradicts itself because it talks about how AI has environmental impacts, however it also says that AI may provide solutions to environmental problems.
Content: I feel like the content was there, however they could have expanded more on some of their topics.
Tone and balance: I believe that this article maintained a consistent neutral tone.
Sources and references: The article could have done a better job at implementing more reliable sources. There is even a point in the article where they have a source hyperlinked as ["unreliable source?"]. Although they did include a long list of references at the end which gives the article more credibility. They are also more recent sources since AI is fairly new.
Organization and quality writing: The article was well organized and made send with the order they put the subtopics. I did not notice really any grammatical errors.
Images and media: There were only two pictures put in the article but I did not think they enhanced it in anyway. The pictures had captions which helped with my understanding, but not a lot.
Talk page discussion: the discussion had a lot to do with the sources used and how some things were spam. They were also talking about different ways to reorganize it. This was a C-class rated article which means there is some work to be done.
Overall impressions: i thought this article is off to a good start, however there are a lot of adjustments that could be made as well as using more credible sources. It is an interesting subject though with interesting content as this is a fairly new idea.
