The term 'alternative Classical' – or 'alt-Classical' for short is a relatively new movement within the music world among contemporary composers. The movement has roots in american minimalism and the pop indie movement, but has evolved as a global movement. Other terms that has been used about the movement is, Indie-classical or post-classical, post-minimalism.
