Process Model Canvas
[edit]Process Model Canvas is a business management and organization design template for developing a new or documenting an existing business process. It is a visual chart with elements describing a firm's business process model or value chain with the objectives (why), the proces steps and information flows (what) needed to realize the objectives, and finally the key results (wow).
The original concept for Process Model Canvas was developed in 2014 and was inspired by the Business Model Canvas, where the element 'Key Activity' (KA) required a deeper level of exploration and design.
The three essential building blocks Why, What, Wow come with a range of questions, for teams who use the Process Canvas in workshops.
- Why: what is the purpose or identity of this process?
- What: what are the names of processes (verbs) that make the value chain? (the chevron shaped headers that bridge the columns)
- Wow: what are the key results and what brings customer delight?
Underneath the processes the participants place sticky notes for each information flow or message that come out of these processes and add value to the proces and it's purpose.
Considerations are optional control aspects that can be considered, to make the information flow or message specification more complete.
