[edit]The flag's color specifications follows the Ninth Edition of the Standard Color Reference of America, a set of color samples that were used in fabric printing. These standards were only for cloth, and have no perfect equivalent in digital or print rendering.
In 1946 a study cross checked by the National Bureau of Standards measured the CIE coordinates for the Ninth Edition of the Standard Color Reference, which was then used by the Bureau as an official standard.
