Mauricio Velásquez is an American teacher, trainer, and consultant. He works in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). He is the founder and president of the company Diversity Training Group (DTG), based in Herndon, Virginia. His company helps other organizations build respectful workplaces and teach about harassment prevention and leadership.

Early life and education

Velásquez was born in the United States. His parents, Irma and Antonio Velásquez, came from Colombia, South America. He is the first child in his family. He earned a degree in Economics and Psychology from the University of Virginia and later earned an MBA in Human Resource Management from The George Washington University. He is married to Kelly Velásquez and has three children.

Velásquez started the Diversity Training Group in 1996. The company has trained many employees, managers, and leaders in the United States and in other countries. Before founding DTG, he worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a human resources researcher. He is also known as a public speaker and has taught part-time at several universities including Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, and American University.

In 2024, Velásquez wrote the book Tackling Toxicity: A Skill-Based Guide to Addressing Toxicity. The book explains how to deal with toxic behavior in workplaces and personal life. It received the **International Impact Book Award**.
