Christopher Moore, (born 1960) is a Chicago-based writer/composer of musical theatre. He won the Joseph Jefferson award for New Work for the musicals SON OF FIRE (1993) and POPE JOAN.(1994) Both shows premiered at Bailiwick Repertory, and were directed by David Zak. POPE JOAN was produced commercially by Michael Butler, under Moore's direction, and was the inaugural production at the Mercury Theatre. Butler subsequently produced the show in Los Angeles at the Stella Adler Theatre. Other credits include musical direction (Jeff nomination) for Bailiwick's landmark production of Animal Farm, original score for ST.JOAN OF THE STOCKYARDS, and direction of JERKER as the first production in Bailiwick's Gay Pride Series. Other productions of his original musicals include an adaptation of THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER at Athenaeum, and PRICK O'THE ROSE, at Palladium Productions, and regionally. He is a member of the Dramatists' Guild.
