Editing Notes
072721 - 1st small group session
- Found references (secondary):
- In the WHO Model Formulary for Children 2010[1], grey baby syndrome is listed under chloramphenicol as a rare adverse effect. It simply lists symptoms of the syndrome but has no other useful information such as pathophysiological explanations or therapeutics guidelines.
- There is a review published on Mayo Clinic Proceedings[2] briefly summarizing the adverse effects. Other than symptoms, there is a short description about dosing and risk age groups.
- In the Drug and Lactation Database (LactMed)[3], it states that "Milk concentrations are not sufficient to induce gray baby syndrome" since the syndrome is dose-related.
