Christopher R. Carreiro

Christopher Carreiro is Selectman in the Town of Swansea, Massachusetts.[1] He was elected on April 13, 2015, after serving two terms on the Swansea School Committee. Carreiro secured approximately 77.34% of votes cast, in a race against Democrat James M. Hanley.[2] Carreiro, at the age of 26, is the youngest Selectman to ever be elected in Swansea, Massachusetts.

Carreiro was born November 21, 1988 in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late Cynthia A. (Gabbour) Carreiro and Russell P. Carreiro. Before, becoming Selectman, Carreiro served as; Swansea School Commmittee Chairman and Vice-Chairman; elected Constable; Swansea Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator[3]; Volunteer Firefighter-EMT; and as Chairman of Swansea Cable Access Television. Carreiro has an identical twin brother Jonathan Carreiro.

Education

Carreiro is a lifelong resident of the Town of Swansea. He attended Swansea Public Schools and graduated in 2007 from Joseph Case High School. He attended Bristol Community College and earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration in 2010. Carreiro then studied at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, earning a Bachelor Degree in finance with a minor in accounting in 2012. He immediately attended law school and graduated in May of 2015 with a Juris Doctor Degree from Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island. Carreiro is a licensed Attorney in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
