Early Life and Education

Shalini Vatsa was born in Patna to university professors Sudha Rani and Bachoo Sinha, both of whom introduced her to theatre at a young age[4]. She pursued Political Science at Indraprastha College, University of Delhi, before completing an M.Phil at Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Theatre Career

Her acting journey began in school productions in Patna, followed by roles with Delhi’s Act One, Asmita, and Sarjana theatre groups[5]. In 1997, she joined Barry John’s Theatre Action Group and later engaged with Habib Tanvir’s Naya Theatre[6], performing in notable plays including Zahreeli Hawa, Charandas Chor, Agra Bazar, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream adaptations[7]

Shalini debuted in Bollywood with Peepli Live (2010) as Dhaniya[8]—her performance earned national acclaim.
