From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wikipedia:Legal Debate has been put up to address debates within articles about law. As usual with Wikipedia please extend and expand these brief outlines as you uncover them.

Basic Topics

[edit]

Law is a unique entry within Wikipedia because unlike most topics, there universal topics can refer to a number of different iterations. Law, the most basic topic, can and should describe the fundamental attributes of law. But Constitutional law, for example, can refer to either a broad topic of law stemming from or concerning constitutions, or the specific constitutions within different countries. Thus, the Constitutional page should act as both an overview page and a mini-portal for the constitutions of virtually every other national legal system.

The following topics of legal controversy should have their own pages that discuss the debates, or prominent sections with a Category page linking to them. This list is not exclusive, and should be added to:

Overlap

[edit]

There is an enormous amount of overlap in law, and more unity should be brought to the pages that discuss law. One way of bringing about this unity is having templates concerning legal debates added to case pages, theory pages, legal academics pages, etc.

Other projects

[edit]

Should the "Legal debates" project be merged into a "Law" project that discusses style and template guides for legal pages?
