The basic principles are founded on traditional chess. Additional movements and capturing figures have been added.
The board and pieces
[edit]Strong Chess is played on a classical chessboard. There are the following pieces (in brackets are given the names of the pieces variants):
- King (Shah)
- Queen (Advisor)
- 2 Bishops (Elephants)
- 2 Knights (Chariots)
- 2 Towers (Rams)
- 8 Pawns (Infantry)
Setting up all the pieces at the beginning of the game is the same as for traditional chess.
Goal
[edit]As in Chess the goal is to Checkmate the opponent. Stalemate is a draw.
Rules of movement and capturing figures
[edit]King (Shah) moves and captures like a king in traditional chess - one square from the current position in all directions. It can not move to the position of check. Once in every game, each king is allowed to make a special move of the king - can move with the movement of the knight of traditional chess. The king's special move can not be used to check or checkmate the enemy king.
Queen (Counselor) moves and captures like a queen in traditional chess.
Bishop (Elephant - Bishop-Knight) moves and captures like a bishop in traditional chess. In addition, it moves and captures like a knight in traditional chess.
Knight (Chariot - Knight-Rook) moves and captures like a knight in traditional chess. In addition, it moves and captures like a rook in traditional chess.
Rook (Ram - Rook-King) moves and captures like a rook in traditional chess. In addition, it moves and captures as well as a king in traditional chess (except for the rules of castling, checking and checkmating), that have the extra movement and the capturing of one square diagonally.
Pawn (Infantry) moves and captures like a pawn in traditional chess.
In the game there are castling, en passant and promotion of pawns.
