Serbian/North Macedonian Cyrillic, cursive version Bulgarian Cyrillic refers to a series of typographical design changes in the Cyrillic script, initiated by Bulgarian typographers in the late 1950s. This style, inspired by the Latin script, introduces letterforms based off italic or cursive designs, resulting in a rounder, more natural design to the letters. Some authors define it as "the final phase in the development of the Cyrillic alphabet" , "a bridge between the Latin and Russian scripts" , while others, such as Vladislav Paskalev, characterize it as a "developed" or "mature" form of the Cyrillic alphabet . According to Ukrainian artist-typographer Viktor Haryk, the Bulgarian Cyrillic alphabet is more logical, but at the same time more distant from the international Cyrillic alphabet.

Vasil Yonchev, a long-time teacher of type at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, as well as his followers Todor Vardzhiev, Stefan Gruev, Kiril Gogov, Iliya Gruev and others, played a major role in the creation, validation, and popularization of Bulgarian Cyrillic.
