Black/White-Hat Hacker People often call white-hat hacker a white hacker. Yet, it is wrong because it can imply the underlying racism. People around the world, especially in Asia countries, can assume that black and white hackers are called that way because of their skin colors. We should need to take extra care to include "hat" between "black/white" and "hacker."
Etymology of White-Hat Hacker and Black-Hat Hacker Originally, the word Red Hat existed from the word Red Hat Linux. [1]Red Hat Linux Red Hat originated from the American IT company, "If you need to fix your computer, find someone with a red hat." We can examine that the brand image is very strong by this quote. On the other hand, hackers voluntarily or with the changing times have come to have various goals. Ethical hacks have also begun to be referred to as white-hat hacks among ordinary people. On the contrary, the black-hat hacker has come to refer to hackers who do malicious things for money. [2]Defacement is one of them. A grey-hat hacker is also the type of hackers. But sometimes he or she is referred to as a grey-hat hacker because he or she crosses the line between black-hat and white-hat.
