Serge Sabarsky

Serge Sabarsky (1912-1996), a leading expert and dealer in Austrian and German Expressionist art, is best known as the co-founder Neue Galerie.[1] He was born in Vienna on November 3,1912 to upper-middle class Russian and Jewish parents[2]. Early on, he expressed a passion for the arts which led him to work as a cabaret artist, set designer, and circus clown. In 1939, with the rise of Nazism, Sabarsky fled to New York City.
