Jonathan Ferrante is an American educator living in South Setauket, New York. Ferrante is known for his contributions to the AP World History curriculum and AP World History exams. He has also worked on a number of textbooks.[1]

Early Life

Jonathan Ferrante was born in California in 1966 or 1967. He studied history of religion at Princeton Theological Seminary, and later received a master’s degree from NYU in social studies education[2]. While in school, Ferrante spent a number of semesters studying abroad, including semesters in India and Singapore. It was during this time that Ferrante became an avid fan of traveling and football.

Career

Jonathan Ferrante started his teaching career at public high schools in New York City. In the 2000-2001 school year, he began teaching at Smithtown High School West in Smithtown, New York, where he has taught since[3]. He is also currently an adjunct professor at Suffolk County Community College, where he teaches courses on the history of religion[4]. Ferrante has been involved with the AP World History testing since it’s beginning in 2002, including developing pre-AP history curriculums[5]. Ferrante works in AP workshops to familiarize other teachers with AP standards and test formats. He also works as a table leader during AP exam grading[6]. He has also worked with Cengage Publishing to develop textbooks pertaining to world history[7].
