User:CM Manjunath/Adoption
CM Manjunath, I'm creating this page that I will post resources on and guide you through the various policies of Wikipedia. It will be structured week by week. Feel free to leave any comments/questions anywhere. Sam-2727 (talk) 18:28, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Week one
[edit]Some questions. Which parts of Wikipedia are you most interested in learning about? Examples include: Article creation, reviewing articles, doing cleanup on existing articles, expanding existing articles, the more "technical" side of Wikipedia (e.g. templates). Also are there any subjects you are particularly interested in? If so, find the relevant wikiproject and post it here. I can then structure some advice around that content area to make it more interesting.
As I mentioned on your talk page, remember to ping users with {{u|username}} so they know that you want them to respond or see your message.
My areas of interest
[edit]Sam-2727, I'd love to learn about article creation, would that be a good place to start? If not, which do you recommend? Please let me know. I'm interested in couple things: 1. Murder investigations 2. History. It'll be great if you could help me learn to research and write about these two subjects.

CM Manjunath, personally I'm not that knowledgable in those topics. I would encourage you to check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography for (1) and for (2), WP:History isn't that active anymore but WP:Military History is very active, if you're interested in that kind of thing. How about we procede like this: Find a topic at Wikipedia:Requested articles, at one of the Wikipedia projects, or outside Wikipedia that you would be willing to write an article about. Create it through the WP:Article Wizard, but don't submit it for review yet. Before that, I'll come and take a look (help you find sources and with formatting the article). I think this would be a good way to get a feel with how to create an article. Sam-2727 (talk) 14:14, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
Reading of the week
[edit]In the future, I think I'll post a "reading of the week." Your reading this week is WP:NPOV. Unless you're only interested in the technical aspects (rarely is someone only interested in that though), writing in a neutral tone is essential to all parts of Wikipedia. This article also has some really good tips on how to write in a neutral tone.
I've been through that doc earlier, but I will go through it again as it's been a while since. Thank you!

Comments on Edits
[edit]Typically, I'll also comment on recents edits you've made with advice on them. You haven't made any edits on articles since November, so I'll hold off on that. In the meantime, I suggest you just try out editing articles. It doesn't hurt to try: if you make a mistake, your edit can easily be undone.
Questions?
[edit]Feel free to post any questions for this week here! Sam-2727 (talk) 18:28, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
