Joe Koizumi (born March 31, 1947) is a Japanese sports journalist and boxing matchmaker.

Koizumi was born on March 31, 1947 in Kobe, Japan. He boxed from the age of fifteen to seventeen. [1]

At seventeen years old, Koizumi became the Japanese correspondent for the American boxing magazine The Ring after corresponding with publisher Nat Fleischer.[1]

In 1965, the Japan Boxing Commission licensed Koizumi as a cornerman. He has since served as various roles such as trainer, cutman, and manager.[1]

Since 1979, Koizumi has appeared as a commentator for Japanese television networks, such as TV Tokyo, Nippon Television, and Wowow.[1]

In 1988, Koizumi worked as Mike Tyson's Japanese agent and booked the Mike Tyson vs. Tony Tubbs at the Tokyo Dome.[1]
