[edit]V.S. Ramachandran details the function of the fusiform gyrus in the context of synesthesia. He explains its involvement in grapheme-color synesthesia specifically, in conjunction with the rest of the brain's visual pathway. This is useful due to the lack of information on the Fusiform Gyrus Wikipedia page concerning synesthesia. V.S. Ramachandran is a foremost, Cambridge-educated neuroscientist currently at the vanguard of neurological research. His research has been recognized as the premier source of information regarding synesthesia. His work is credible and has been redacted properly for public use.
David Bainbridge presents a broad view of the brain throughout his book, Beyond the Zonules of Zinn. This provides a solid foundational knowledge of the fusiform gyrus, which can be applied to the Fusiform Gyrus Wikipedia article by bolstering existing information with additional sources or providing new general information. It is written more formally than V.S. Ramachandran's the Tell-Tale Brain, and it will be used accordingly as an academic source. Bainbridge's book merits recognition as an academic text, as Bainbridge himself is a graduate of Cambridge University, and his book was published by the Harvard University Press.
Whereas Bainbridge's book provides an academic view and V.S. Ramachandran's a bridge in between, Elizabeth Norton's article on the Fusiform Gyrus has been written for the public. It provides a generalized view of the information in Beyond the Zonules of Zinn, which is useful when attempting to tailor such information to a public audience. It was published by the Huffington Post, and the article is therefore reliable as a secondary source.
