A mosaic of Emperor Justinian I and his retinue within the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna. It was completed in 547 CE, shortly after the partial re-conquest of the West during the Gothic War. The five center figures from left to right: Antonina, Belisarius, Justinian I, Narses(?), Maximianus
Built in 520 CE, the Mausoleum of Theodoric was the final resting place of Theodoric the Great. King of the Ostrogoths starting in 475 and the first ruler of the Ostrogothic Kingdom of Italy from 493–526 following the death of Odoacer. Viewed as one of the most successfull rulers following the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476, the Ostrogothic Kingdom would continue to decline after Theodoric's death. Leading to its collapse in 553.
A c. 500 CE mosaic depicting a Vandal cavalryman. Likely originating during Thrasamund's reign of the Vandal Kingdom, it was found within the cistern of Bordj Djedid, a portion of the Zaghouan Aqueduct in Carthage.
