BitCore是一款开源的加密货币，基于40320种不同的哈希算法提供双重费用保护 (工作量證明 )。 开发人员的目标是用普通的图形处理单元（GPU）恢复采矿功能，以取代采用专用ASIC（定制芯片组）的采矿。[11]比特币流程的核心部分是采矿，由少数将产品出售给工业矿工的制造商控制，集中开采任务并破坏比特币核心价值之一 - 分权。[12]采用ASIC的GPU挖掘提供了一种解决方案，因为硬件无处不在，每个人都可以使用标准的现成电脑。
