As a self-taught artist who began painting in 1980. While stationed with the Canadian Air Force at Baden Baden, West Germany, he began painting medieval city buildings. After his tour in Europe, he returned home to Fort Saskatchewan, and switched to painting Canadian scenes like old mills and sugar shacks in Ontario and Quebec, then local landscapes including old homesteads scattered throughout the Alberta countryside. During the past few years, Dennis has mainly focused on painting wildlife. He has sponsored and contributed to Ducks Unlimited for the last 23 years and has received the Pewter and Bronze Teal Award for his contribution of art to further the cause of Ducks Unlimited.
