Joe Dougherty (Born December 2, 1977 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).

Joe graduated from Hampton High School in Allison Park, PA in 1996. He then went on to the Pennsylvania State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2000. Joe worked for 9 months at Siemens-Westinghouse in Churchill, PA where we worked on the design of commercial and residential fuel cells. He returned to school, receiving his Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2002. Joe interned at the UPMC Sports Medicine Center during the summer of 2002, where he performed sports medicine testing on the likes of Pittsburgh Penguins star Mario Lemieux and then Miami Dolphin quarterback Jay Fiedler. Upon graduating from UM, Joe worked for 1 1/2 years at the Allegheny General Hospital Department of Orthopedics as a Sports Medicine researcher. Getting the school bug again in 2004, Joe began his education at West Virginia University School of Medicine. Joe spent 2 years at the Morgantown campus as well as 2 clinical years at the Eastern Division in Martinsburg, WV. He graduated from WVU SOM in May 2008 and is currently a Family Medicine Resident at UPMC St. Margaret in Pittsburgh, PA. He looks forward to completing his residency and specializing further in sports medicine where he will be able to put his love for sports together with his love for engineering and medicine.

Joe is an avid baseball player having played Club ball at Penn State and semi-pro at the ripe old age of 26. Joe combined his love of baseball and travel in trips to almost 60 baseball stadiums nationwide. During his trip to Oklahoma City, he had a chance run-in with his favorite news reporter, MSNBC's (now CourtTV's) Ashleigh Banfield. He is also a fan of country music, having met the likes of Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Chely Wright, Danni Leigh, Craig Morgan, Rebecca Lynn Howard, and others.

Born and raised in Hampton Township, Pennsylvania, 12 miles north of Pittsburgh, Joe is a dedicated Pittsburgh fan. Not just of the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins, but of the the city. "No other city can match the beauty and quality of living that Pittsburgh has. Education, top-notch medical facilities, low cost of living, and phenomenal people and history." Joe prides himself on knowing just about everybody famous who hails from Pittsburgh. "It's just unbelievable the list of sports figures, politicians, actors, and musicians that are from the Pittsburgh area."

Joe is also the proud uncle of Brennan Lewis Kirkpatrick, born October 19, 2004, and Andrew Thomas Kirkpatrick, born November 19, 2007.
