History

[edit]

Formation and Early Days (2008-2011)

[edit]

Members Aaron Rosa, Xavier Adames, and Matthew Marshall created the New Jersey local band "Marilyn Is Dead" after many other high school local bands had fizzled out in 2008. Joining with other members of local bands Marilyn Is Dead became a bigger local act in the New Jersey area after joining with DJQ Managment under the advisory of I See Stars guitarist Jimmy Gregerson. In 2009 the band had gained guitarist and electronic programmer Earl Halasan to help make the band more unique. With Earl in the band, they had recorded their first and only record titled "Appearance,Disappear" and released it onto itunes. The band that summer, embarked on the "Rags to Riches" summer tour with the bands Broadway, and Trees Above Mandalay while acquiring Brandon Reese on Bass replacing the bassist before hand to make the line up solid for the future. After this tour the band had played an array of local shows opening for bands such as Enter Shikari, The Word Alive, We Came As Romans, and I See Stars on a regular basis.

The band had recorded four more singles after the "Appearance,Disappear" LP had come out which had gotten the attention of Outerloop Management in 2010. The band was invited to showcase for Outerloop, and two other record labels in Virginia with bands I see stars and Abandon All Ships. The singer of Marilyn Is Dead had quit the band the night before the showcase forcing Brandon Reese to sing for the band the next day. Outerloop still impressed with the performance of the band offered to work with them only with the change of a new singer.

Matt had gotten in contact with former Pathway To Providence singer Lou Miceli and after weeks of convincing, was able to get Lou up to New Jersey to join the band. Lou had recorded vocals over an in progress Marilyn Is Dead song, and had won over management as well as peers in the New Jersey scene. With Outerloop Management backing the band they had later in August 2011 recorded at Chango studios with Cameron Mizell in Cassleberry Florida.

Name Change and Signing to Rise Records

[edit]

With a new singer and musical direction the band had decided to change it's name and overall treat themselves as a new band, dawning the new name "Palisades". The band released three singles off of their five song EP "I'm Not Dying Today" which was originally titled "The Rise" before the signing to Rise Records. The singles were "Immortal" "Bury It" and "Disclosure", featuring Telle Smith of The Word Alive. The singles had gained lots of internet buzz and also gained the attention of Rise Records who had decided to release the EP as well the additional full length record deal. Rise had released they had singed Palisades on December 20th 2011. The "I'm Not Dying today" went was released February 7th, 2012, and was on the Rock top 10 on itunes for two consecutive days. In March the band released a live video for the single " Bury It". Palisades went on their first tour as a signed band with Us, From Outside, And A Faylene Sky, and shortly after released they were going to be on the "Rise Records tour, with The Air I Breathe, My Ticket Home, and Hands Like Houses. The band then went to tour with Our Last Night, Crown The Empire, Set It Off, and Lions Lions, on the Freedom Isn't Free tour. On July 3rd, 2012, the band had announced they are going to Canada with label mates, My Ticket Home, and unsigned band Horizons.
