My Life
[edit]I was born in Bötö-Marielyst in Denmark on a vacation. I know it sounds crazy but that is exactly what happened. My mum was probably around 8 months pregnant and she and my dad decided it would be a good idea to go on a vacation. I mean it worked out fine and in a way I find that it really shaped my identity.
This sort of being away from home and not conforming to the German standard too much is something I really associate with. Dont get me wrong I love Germany but I cannot stress how important it was for me to get away from home for an extended period of time [1].
Right, this brings me to where I am today! I am studying abroad for 4 semesters in the USA and I absolutely love it. I feel like I have become so much more independent and self-sufficient in these last 6 months. Not to mention the financial freedom I have acquired through not having any expenses (I get free accommodation and food) and working two jobs. I work as a Teaching Assistant[2] for German and as a lifeguard and swim coach in the local pool.[3]
