Week 5 Reflection: Write about your introduction to wikipedia.  What did you expect? How has the experience met your expectations and how is it different?  Include something you thought was really interesting about editing wikipedia or that you have learned during this process.

I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming wikipedia is to new editors. I didn't expect there to be specialized courses (I didn't know about wikiedu), and overall I was impressed by how well run and organized everything was. For instance, the tutorials anticipate and offer advice to minimize conflicts between editors, and all articles are classified according to how much editing they need to streamline the process of improving articles. Something particularly interesting about editing wikipedia is how cooperative the editing process is, which is helped by the presence of talk pages for every article.
