Distinctive Features (Final Article Topic!!)

1) Is the article's content relevant to the topic?

  • I believe that the content of the 'Distinctive Features' article is relevant to my Physics of Sound class because I looked at the different subcategories of the 'Acoustics' article and I picked the 'Speech' subcategory. When I searched through the subcategories of the 'Speech' article and I picked the 'Speech perception' subcategory.

2) Is it written neutrally?

  • I think that the 'Distinctive Features' article was written neutrally so far by the other contributors because when I was a CSD undergraduate student, I learned about distinctive features in my phonetics class. I can agree with main points of the information in this article because I learned about them in my phonetics class as well.

3) Does each claim have a citation?

  • Every claim in the 'Distinctive Features' article doesn't have a citation. I found that the they only cited the Jakobsonian system in the article while the other sections didn't have have in-text citations.

4) Are the citations reliable?

  • The citations that are in the 'Distinctive Features' article are reliable because they either came from books or websites from universities / colleges.

5) Does the article tackle one of the Wikipedia's equity gaps (coverage of historically underrepresented or misrepresented populations of subjects)?

  • The 'Distinctive Features' article doesn't tackle any one of the Wikipedia's equity gaps neither coverage of historically underrepresented or misrepresented populations of subjects.
