The True Verdict (meaning of Greek Ετυμηγορία "Etymigoría") is a name given to several groups, both real and fictitious. Historically, the name usually refers to the Spanish True Verdict, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded sometime in the mid 1600s in Spain. The society's goals were to oppose evil, corruption, religious influence over public life, and abuses of state power. They were created with the purpose of combating and retaliating against corruption and abuse of power, they're whole ideology was that law, order, and protection are absolute and the only way to keep the peace. Hence, they're speculated to have worked within the shadows, to hinder and eliminate "wrong do'ers" in the eyes of the verdict. Being Judge, Jury, and executioner, they take the defected felon and justice into their own grasp and deliver their own verdict, and handle the retributions accordingly. The self-proclaimed "Holy Avengers" believe they are the chosen few to cleanse this world of their sin and impurities.
