Bajjar is a Village in the Mirpur District of Azad Kashmir , due to the construction of Mangla Dam majority of the land was flooded, residents were replaced, majority went to the United Kingdom during the 1950s and 1960s.

Demography

According to 1998 census of Pakistan, its population was 1028.[1]

Origin

The ancestral seat of Bajjar were founded by 3 siblings Mehmood, Sultan and a sister who were of Gujjar origin. They arrived from Gujrat more than 500 years ago settling to what is now the village. Gujjar form majority of the population.

Migration

Many of them have migrated to different countries to work. Earliest migration was in the 20th Century when many of them was hired by the British Indian Army. Many consisting with in the British Mirpuri diaspora. Also spreading through Europe, Middle East and North America.
